With the start-up of the Mariner field during the second half of 2018, a thirty-year adventure will begin 250 kilometres off Scotland’s north-east coast.

Mariner represents one of the largest capital expenditure commitments in the UK in recent years—a gross investment of more than GBP 4.5 billion – and will support up to 700 long term jobs and create significant ripple effects in the supply chain for decades to come.

2017 also saw a discovery in the Verbier sidetrack well in the outer Moray Firth on the UK Continental Shelf, proving a minimum of 25 million recoverable barrels of oil in the immediate vicinity of the wellbore. The preliminary results suggest the discovery could range anywhere between 25 and 130 million barrels of oil.
